Ladakh Monasteries Tour
- DAY 01: Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, welcome and transfer to hotel for overnight stay. - DAY 02: Fly Delhi - Leh (3445mtrs)
Transfer to the airport to board the flight to Leh. You will be received on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Rest and acclimatize yourself to the altitude and rarified air of Ladakh. In the evening, we gather for dinner and are introduced to the tour guide. - DAY 03: Leh - Half day tour
After breakfast, leave for a tour of Leh and see its ancient monuments and Buddhist sites. After lunch at your hotel we leave for a tour of the Shanti Stupa, Built by Japanese Buddhists this Peace Pagoda is a beautiful structure with gilt panels on its sides that display episodes from the life of Buddha. It was inaugurated in 1983 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We then drive to the Sankar Monastery that is surrounded by forests and barley fields that rise in terraces along the hillside. Within the monastery you can see beautiful Thanka paintings and statuettes of Buddha made of gold. Return to your hotel to stay overnight. - DAY 04: Leh -Hemis - Thiksey - Shey
After breakfast we leave for a tour of the Hemis Gompa. This monastery is the best known in Ladakh. Around the monastery you will see Chortens or Buddhist reliquaries and ornate walls. After seeing the sights of the monastery we leave for the Thiksey Monastery. This is situated on a mountain from where you can see panoramic views of the Indus Valley. Within the monastery you can see many beautiful Buddhist artifacts. We then leave for the Shey Palace, which was the summer palace of the royal family of Ladakh. Return to your hotel to stay overnight. - DAY 05: Leh - Alchi
After breakfast, we leave for Alchi. Located 70 kms west of Leh, is the Uletokpo camp where we arrive rest, have lunch and then leave for a tour of Alchi monastery and the nearby village. Considered one of the most well preserved Buddhist centers of Ladakh, the Alchi monastery has beautiful paintings on its walls, which are examples of early Buddhist art. In Alchi village you can see the rural lifestyle of the villagers including activities such as grinding wheat etc. Stay overnight at the camp. - DAY 06: Alchi - Lamayuru - Alchi
After breakfast we drive to Lamayuru, where we tour the Lamayuru monastery. Also called the Yung-drung (Swastika) monastery, Lamayuru is one of the oldest monasteries in Central Ladakh. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Lamayuru village and explore its surroundings in the afternoon. Return to the camp in the evening to stay overnight. - DAY 07: Ridzong and Likir Monasteries
After an early snack we leave for the Ridzong Monastery. The last kilometer of this journey is on foot, due to the steep hill. Ridzong is a nunnery, where Buddhist nuns reside. Tour the monastery and then return to the camp for breakfast. Later we leave for Leh. On the way we stop to the Likir Monastery built in the 15th century by monks of the Gelupa (Yellow Hat) Sect. Later we resume our drive along the Indus River. Arrive at the hotel in time for a late lunch. Relax in the afternoon and evening and stay overnight in the hotel. - DAY 08: Leh - Saboo - Leh
After breakfast we leave for Saboo village where you can see the traditional lifestyle of the people of Ladakh. You can taste Gur Gur or Yak Butter Tea and dine on local cuisine at a Ladakhi home. Return to Leh and enjoy shopping and sightseeing. Stay overnight at the hotel. - DAY 09: Leh - Stok
After breakfast we leave for the Stok Palace, where the royal family of Ladakh used to live. In the museum at the palace you can see family heirlooms and artifacts from royal times. We then tour the Ladakh Handicraft Center. Here you can buy beautiful handmade products and craft items. We than travel to Choglamsar, where you can see a Tibetan settlement. There are many Tibetans residing in Ladakh. Return to your hotel to stay overnight. - DAY 10: Leh
Your last day in Leh is at your disposal. You can go shopping, sightseeing or pursue any activity of your choice. - DAY 11: Leh - Delhi

After breakfast, leave for a day's sightseeing tour of Delhi. In historic Old Delhi you will see the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques of India; the Red Fort, an impressive sandstone monument built by the Mughals, and you can explore the busy market of Chandi Chowk. You can also visit Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi you can see India Gate, Parliament House and the President's mansion. After Breakfast we visit Old Delhi, built in the 17th century by Shah Jehan the Magnificent (who also built the Taj Mahal). First we will be visiting the famous Jama Masjid mosque with its 9,000 sq. ft. courtyard, three domes and two minarets, and then proceed to the massive complex known as the Red Fort. Afternoon we'll visit Lakshmi Narayan Temple, a Spectacular structure that's just 60 years old , and then proceed via India Gate and the Governmental building to Qutab Minar, the 240 foot tower built in 1190 to commemorate the arrival of Islam in India, the Bahai Temple with its nine pools on an elevated platform, and the Crafts Museum, which replicates and Indian street with over 50 artists and crafts people at work. - DAY 03: Delhi - Amritsar
Early morning we are transferred to the New Delhi railway Station to board our train for Amritsar, the city of Golden Temple. Afternoon we visit the famous Golden temple which is scared to the Sikh nation, here we will find time to tune into the amazing spiritual centre and feel the power that inspires the Sikh people worldwide. We continue our city tour and visit the Jallian walla Bagh Martyrs' Memmorial built in the shape of eternal flame of liberty is situated on the outskirts of Golden Temple.Here about 1500 and 2000 persons who were attending a peaceful meeting during the freedom movement fell under the bullets of the British General Dyer on 13 April 1919 and the city of Amritsar. - DAY 04: Amritsar - Dharamshala
Morning after breakfast we depart for Dharmshala, a hill station full of natural charm and beauty is situated in the Kangra Valley and spread over a height of 450 metres. It is surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar Ranges on three sides. Tibetan settlements at Mecleodganj and Tibetan Library are the treasure hunts of manuscripts and text and its ancient culture. The Dalai Lama's Palace is next to his monastary at Dharamshala. The day is spent walking around the Kangra Valley and mixing and talking with the Tibetan Community. - DAY 05: Dharamshala
Morning we start our city tour of Dharmshala and visit the Dalai Lama 's Monastery , Tibetian children village and handicraft centre, Bhagsunag and water fall and the war memorial. Evening is spent relaxing. - DAY 06: Dharamshala - Kullu Manali

Today we leave for city tour of Manali, visiting the Hadimba Devi temple set within dense Pine forest and to the Naggar Castle to have the stunning view of the valley. Afternoon is spent walking around the Beas river and the local market. - DAY 08: Manali - Rohtang - Jispa
Morning we start our drive through the Rohtang Pass (4,220m) to Jipsa visiting the Gompa (monastery) of Khardong en route. - DAY 09: Jispa - Sarchu
After breakfast we depart for Sarchu the drive to the high barren mountains of the Ladakh Valley. On our way we cross over the Baralacha la (4900 Mts.). It is here that roads from Lahaul, Spiti, Zanskar and Leh meet. We reach Sarchu (4200 Mts.) camp. - DAY 10: Leh (81 Kms)
After breakfast we start our full day drive to Leh. Geographically and culturally, Leh is very much part of Tibet and Tibetan influence pervades this desert land. - DAY 11: Leh (ladakh)
Morning in Leh is kept free for the purpose of getting acclimatise to the height and weather. Afternoon we do a sightseeing tour to Shankar Gompa, Shantistupa and Leh Palace. - DAY 12: Leh - Shey - Thiksey
After breakfast full day sightseeing to Shey , old summer palace of the Kings of Ladakh and was built about 560 year ago. It has a 12 meter high seated Buddha images. From here we proceed to Thiksey , the monastery is very picturesque and superbly sited on a hilltop overlooking the village and we now would proceed on to Hemis , one of the largest and the most important Gompas in Ladakh, with its excellent library wall paintings and Buddha figures. - DAY 13: Thiksey - Likir -Alchi
After breakfast we start a full day excursion visiting the monastery of Likir and Alchi to see the gigantic painted clay statues of Buddha, carved arches and old paintings. - DAY 14: Alchi - Leh - Delhi

Leave in the morning and drive to Chumathang stop at Upshi for check point. From here the road turns towards left and reach Karu. From here the road is rough. On the way visit Sumdah village and another 55 kms drive will take you to Tsomoriri. The Lake is breeding grounds for numerous species of birds. Mani walls lead to the little - visited gompa, which was built around the 16th century by king Tashi Namgyal and is today home to about 45 monks of the Kagyupa order. Afternoon visit of Stok Gompa - Stok Gompa is where the last king of Ladakh died in 1974. Built in 1814 it is popular because it is so easy to get to. There are more than 80 rooms. Arrive at Rangdum in the afternoon to visit Monastery. After visit continue over the mighty Pensilass pass into Zanskar. The top of Pesi la pass offers excellent views of the snow covered peaks. Dha Hanu consists of a handful of villages along the road leading north-west from Khalsi. The steep bare walls of the Indus give the terraced fields more light and heat than other pats of Ladakh. The area is probably most famous for its inhabitants, known as dards or Brokpas, "people of the land ", an ancient Indo- Iranian people but retain their own Buddhist and beliefs. Hemis Tour & TravelDrive to Hemis Gompa after breakfast, around 35 km from Leh for a short visit. Hemis Gompa is also known as Chang-Chub-Sam-Ling (or the Lone Place of the Compassionate Person), Hemis Gompa, 45 km south of Leh belongs to the Brokpa order and was founded in the early 17th century. Now it is one of the most accessible, famous and therefore most visited gompas. Continue drive to Chumthang and then continue to Karzok village. The Karzok village has single gompa here is quite unusual because it is inhabited predominantly by women, who often spend their day making beautiful garments for themselves. The gompa was built in about 1850 replacing one replacing one destroyed during Dogra invasion. Tso Moriri is situated at an altitude of 4573m form south east from Leh. It is like a pearl shape and contains large mineral deposits. The circumference of the lake is around 36 km. Here you must register and show your permit. Late evening return the camp for overnight. - DAY 13: Karzok

The trek runs along the river until reaching the Bardan Gompas, which is one of the oldest Gompas of the region. The friendly monks will show you around the Gompas, which also houses a gigantic prayer wheel, which stands over three meters high. After visiting the monastery, trek down till Padum, which is only a little away. Camp overnight. - DAY 15: Karzok

A collection of solid brick huts set up for the dramatic winters. Overnight will be at camp. - DAY 16: Karzok - Tsokar (By Road 85 km in 5 hrs drive)
After a leisurely breakfast drive to Tsokar. This is a beautiful valley with yaks and nomads. The journey to this place is through rugged roads but the destination is really beautiful. Enjoy the lakes and scenes and relax in the camp while our people take care of you. Overnight will be at the TSOKAR CAMP. - DAY 17: Tsokar - Sarchu (By Road 118 km in 5 hrs drive)
After breakfast drive to Pang. This will be 60 km down hill drive first and then you will need to cross PANG. Pang is the tiny migrated markets in Leh-Manali road. The person who run the shops these are Ladakhi. They are shifted there for few months as mid June till Sep. Just cross Pang and drive to Sarchu. En route we cross the wild animals. Sarchu is the very open place on the bank of the Bhaga River. The evening will be windy. Overnight will be at the tent. - DAY 18: Sarchu - Jispa (By Road 142 km in 5 hrs drive)
Sarchu Tour PackageEnjoy your breakfast at the camp and drive to Jispa. The drive is very beautiful as the vegetation and the mountains slowly change colours. Pass through the Darcha village. This place is the gateway for the trekker's to Lamayuru via Zanskar valley. We stop there for checking, because this is the last check post in the Himachal. After verifying the passports and another documents, cross the Barlacha Pass (4650m). Reach Jispa in the afternoon. Enjoy the village walk in the evening and relax. Overnight will be at Jispa. - DAY 19: Jispa - Manali (By Road 117 km in 5 hrs drive)
Drive to Keylong after breakfast and visit the KHARDUNG MONASTERY - the most celebrated monastery of Lahaul. Keylong at an elevation of 3350 m. is situated on the Manali-Leh road is the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti. It is the only place in Lahaul, which has a regular bazaar. It is ideally situated in the heart of the Himalayas in the lonely corner with high cliffs in the front covered with snow. This place is lush green. The climate of this place is dry and bracing but winters are very severe. Keylong located above Bhaga River the district headquarters of Lahaul Spiti has been described as oasis of green field. Three well known monasteries Tayul, Khardong, Gemur and Sha-Shur are within a few kilometers. The people of this valley are mainly Buddhists & the local society still follows the ancient culture of polygamy . Continue drive to Manali through the Rohatang Pass 13,060 ft. around 51 km climb up to the Rohatang along a rough bridle path and once on top, enjoy the stunning panoramas of the array of snow peaks and glaciers. En route stop off at snow point a static point as it shifts with the snow. Reach Manali in the late afternoon. Spend time at the local markets. Overnight will be at Manali. - DAY 13: Manali

First times trippers to Manali will invariably want to sues out old favorites such as the 16th century Hadimba Temple, the Hot spring at Vashisht and even speculate anout the life and times Old Manali - the hippy enclave. But the lure of the playing fields of the Solang Valley. Naggar 28 km from the Manali, a picturesque tiny village set on a hill, Naggar is the starting points for the treks over the Chandrakhani pass. The town is host to the Roerich Art Gallery that used to be the home of artist Nicholas Roerich and his wife Devika Rani. Amongst the ancient temples in the area are the 12th century Gauri Shankar temple and the Chatar Bhuj Temple. Return to the hotel or explore the local markets. - DAY 20: Manali - Amritsar (By Road 250 km in 5 hrs drive )
Breakfast will be at the hotel. Drive to Amritsar. Reach and during the day visit the GOLDEN TEMPLE. This is one of the best maintained shrines in India and would take a bit of time visiting the place and taking a round of the pious lake. In the evening enjoy the Punjabi Cuisine and roam in the old market of the city. Overnight will be in Amritsar. - DAY 21: Amritsar - Delhi (By Train 6 hr)
Breakfast will be at the hotel. Visit the INDIA PAKISTAN BORDER for a dress parade. (GATE OPENING CEREMONY) In the late afternoon take SHATABDI deluxe train to Delhi. Reach and stay overnight at Delhi. - DAY 22: Delhi - Home
Breakfast will be at hotel. Relax in the morning. In the afternoon proceed for a sightseeing tour of DELHI visiting HANUMAN MANDIR, JANTAR MANTAR, BANGLA SAHIB GURDWARA, LODHI GARDENS AND CRAFTS MUSEUM. Walk around Connaught Place in the free time. In the evening return to the hotel and proceed for FAREWELL DINNER. Proceed to the airport in time for flight home.
